Vanderbilt University Associate Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management, Owen in Nashville, Tennessee

The Associate Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management at th e Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management (OGSM) is responsible for the strategic leadership and administration of the school's recruiting, admissions, and enrollment management activities including financial aid decisions for the wide portfolio of the school’s academic programs. This senior-level position uses innovative recruitment, admissions, and financial aid strategies to attract and enroll a diverse pool of qualified professional students.

The Associate Dean leverages data analytics to shape enrollment trends, inform decision-making, and develop data-driven strategies to manage admissions process effectively while tailoring it to needs of each academic program. This includes creating models to predict enrollment, evaluating the outcomes of recruitment initiatives, and providing critical analysis of student admissions patterns. The role is also responsible for developing fiscally sound admissions strategy that supports new student experience and success. The Associate Dean is charged with advancing the Owen School's strategic admissions planning using data-informed analytics.

Reporting to the Dean of the Owen Graduate School of Management, the Associate Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management also has a direct dotted line to the Vice Provost for University Enrollment Affairs and will sit on the University Enrollment Affairs Leadership team. In addition, this role will work closely with Director of Analytics and Enrollment Strategy, Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, Data and Strategic Analytics (DSA), Process and Solution Implementations (PSI), University Registrar’s Office (URO), and others as appropriate to ensure the accessibility and quality of the data supporting decision-making.

The OGSM is a professional school at Vanderbilt University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, focused on graduate-level business education. Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees strategic planning for recruiting, admissions and enrollment management across all degree programs and Accelerator, Owen’s summer business immersion program, utilizing innovative recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified professional applicants.

In conjunction with the Dean and the Vice Provost for University Enrollment Affairs, determines the vision, goals, and priorities for recruiting, admissions, and enrollment management for all degree programs that align with enrollment targets, academic student profile, student success, financial aid, and continued financial health of the school.

Works directly with the various University Enrollment Affairs Offices on all topics associated with developing an integrated strategic enrollment framework both within OGSM and at the institutional level.  

Analyzes enrollment data, developed models, and trends to identify opportunities for growth and optimization of recruitment and financial aid offerings.

Represents Owen domestically and internationally at recruitment events, conferences, and other outreach initiatives to build the institution's brand and reputation.

Collaborates with Owen’s Marketing and Communications team to develop effective marketing strategies for communicating the Owen experience to potential students, creating student expectations consistent with Owen’s mission.

Nurtures corporate relationships related to recruiting.

Works closely with the Associate Dean of Student Success to align admissions and career management goals and execution.

Collaborates with the Dean, Associate Dean of Academic Programs, and faculty on issues of curriculum that affect Owen’s ability to recruit the best and brightest students.

Reinforces admissions communications with current students regarding goals, performance metrics, and statistics.

Oversees and manages budget for the Owen admissions, inclusive of tuition, financial aid, and scholarships, in addition to operating expenses.

Stays informed of industry best practices and emerging trends in graduate business education admissions and enrollment.

Serves as a cultural champion for inclusion and belonging.

Supervisory Relationships

The Associate Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management reports to the Dean and serves on the Dean’s senior leadership team for the Owen Graduate School of Management. This position oversees the Recruiting, Admissions, and Enrollment Management program directors and their teams.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education is necessary.

A Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in business, public policy, higher education administration, or a related field is strongly preferred.

A Doctorate degree in an applicable area from an accredited institution of higher education is preferred.

Experience and Skills

At least fifteen years of progressive experience at an academic institution and a demonstrated track record of success in recruiting, admissions , financial aid, and overall strategic enrollment management.

Experience in building and maintaining a domestic and international network of external constituents.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills and strong leadership experience in organizational and fiscal management including planning, developing, and evaluating programs and personnel.

Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and leveraging technology to inform decision-making. Knowledge of the application of AI to the admissions and enrollment processes considered a plus.

Ability to work in, and appreciate a highly productive, change oriented, and research oriented academic community.

Ability to balance the diverse needs of the job and its various constituents.

Ability to be a team player and work effectively and collaboratively with Owen faculty and staff and University Enrollment Affairs Staff.
