BAE Systems is seeking an Operations Deputy for our Electronic Systems sector. The Electronic Systems (ES) sector spans the commercial and defense electronics markets with a broad portfolio of mission-critical electronic systems, including flight and engine controls; electronic warfare; surveillance and reconnaissance sensors; secure networked communications equipment; geospatial imagery intelligence products and systems; mission management; and power-and energy-management systems. The Electronic Systems Operations team consists of 6,000 employees spanning multiple product lines, facilities, geographies, technologies, and cost account segments.
The Operations Deputy is a key partner to the ES Vice President of Operations and overall Operations Leadership team to lead the company s multi-site manufacturing and supply chain operations to deliver upon the business commitments today and strategically positioned the organization for the future. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations of Electronic Systems, this position can be based at one of our major Electronic Systems locations: Nashua, NH (and surrounding area); Cedar Rapids, IA; Fort Wayne, IN; Austin, TX; Wayne, NJ; Greenlawn, NY and Huntsville, AL.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support facilitating the formation of the Operations strategy that deliver production and supply chain capabilities necessary to sustain targeted growth, optimize facility utilization, drive continuous improvement in all processes, and generate world-class customer satisfaction with exceptional product quality.
Lead the ES five-year business planning process for the Operations function, identifying capacity needs, investment requirements, operational improvements, and staffing plans. Understand and shape the long-term strategic objectives of the business area and translate those objectives into short- and long-term actions within the production environment and supply base.
Develop and implement the long-term facilities roadmap strategy and plan to support current and future production requirements. The plan will include detailed analysis of existing facility and operations utilization, make versus buy analyses, and alternative low-cost manufacturing strategies. Measure and regularly report out on strategies, plans, activities, and results to senior leadership.
Support the Operations leadership team to drive efficient and effective program and production execution and to achieve business objectives, customer commitments, and growth expectations. Analyze performance measures and take corrective action as necessary.
Partner with Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality to promote and action continuous improvement strategies to keep the organizations working to ensure the Value Stream leading up to production is enhance and optimized.
Assess the current metrics used to measure operational performance and make recommendation for needed adjustments. Act as a thought partner and help lead the organization through continuous improvement by establishing KPI s and a metrics driven culture. Leverage reporting & dashboard capabilities which can accurately forecast future needs, and proactively communicate findings to Executive Management and create and present plans to act on trends.
Partner and collaborate at all levels of the organization to ensure that all team members are adhering to all processes and relevant operational and organizational key business best practices to maintain quality.
Foster atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement by creating and facilitating positive relationships, listening actively, encouraging collaboration and giving others a sense of ownership.

Typically a Bachelor s degree in a technical or business-related discipline and a minimum of 15 years of experience with electronic systems manufacturing processes and systems.
Minimum LSS Green Belt.
Must be willing to travel up to 30%.
This role requires the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Experience in mixed volume manufacturing and supply chain leading multi-geographical locations.
Must understand and appreciate the goals of all aspects of the business and be committed to partnering with business leaders in creating a best for the enterprise service delivery approach.
Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to negotiate win-win solutions in a timely and decisive manner.
Must be experienced establishing a vision, gaining cross-organizational support for that vision, and implementing that vision in a logical, methodical manner.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
Experience leading a complex electronics manufacturing business with revenues of at least $500M across multiple sites and multiple account segment working in an organization with revenues of $1 billion or more.
Expertise utilizing lean principles and a track record of success in developing significant improvements in cost management, inventory management, quality, and delivery.
Experience in identifying product synergy as well as led consolidation of products, processes, and evaluation of physical footprint for multiple businesses.
Ability to marshal resources to achieve goals, orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal, and use resources effectively and efficiently. Proven skills partnering across the business and the ability to collaborate within and across organizational boundaries.
Experience with large scale MES or other enterprise software for enhancing global process.
Executive level communication skills with experience presenting complex information to senior leaders.
Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to negotiate win-win solutions at a high level with internal and external customers and partners in a timely and decisive manner.
Experience leading a large geographically dispersed operations team.
Has an agile leadership style; able to adjust one s approach to fit the situation as a driver, coach, mentor, or teacher. Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to achieve results through others and a focus on holistic leadership.
Previous experience working for a government defense contractor.
MBA or MS degree.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $194600 - $330800

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
