Position: North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) – Division 13

Location:55 Orange Street, Asheville, NC 28801

Internship Duration:10-week internship (May 27-August 1, 2025)

About the Internship:Looking for a hands-on learning experience in the world of transportation engineering? NCDOT Division 13 is offering a unique rotational internship where you’ll gain exposure to multiple units within the department. This opportunity allows you to work alongside Unit Heads, learning the full scope of NCDOT operations and building a solid foundation for your engineering career.

Key Responsibilities:

• Rotate through various units to gain a comprehensive understanding of NCDOT operations

• Collaborate with Unit Heads and team members on engineering projects

• Assist with tasks typical of an Engineering Technician I role, providing hands-on learning experiences

• Participate in projects and assignments that highlight the full capacity of NCDOT's engineering functions

• Receive feedback and assessments from supervisors across all units

Ideal Candidate:We’re seeking enthusiastic and motivated students pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field. This internship is ideal for individuals who are eager to explore different facets of transportation engineering and gain practical experience in a dynamic setting.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• Must be a currently enrolled full-time student in a bachelors, masters, or professional level program at an accredited or recently graduated from a North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI) within the past three years.

• 24 credit hours completed.

• Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale)

• Has legal right to work in the U.S. and do not need sponsorship
