Melwood TRANSPORTATION VAN AIDE- CAMP ACCOMPLISH FOR THE SUMMER ONLY 6/1/25-8/15/25 in Nanjemoy, Maryland

STAFF WILL BE ASSIGNED TO THE LOCATION

  • National Harbor Oxon Hill Park and Ride 6700 Oxon Hill Road (near MD-210/I-95/I-495 Exit-38), Oxon Hill, MD, 20745 7:15 AM 5:45 PM

Pick up at 7am/Drop off 10:00a and afternoon pick up 3:15 pm and drop off 6:15pm

Between 10:00am-3:00pm, there is a break. You can choose morning or afternoon shift or both.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure a safe environment exists for the assigned individual served while being transported.

  2. Inform management staff and other interdisciplinary team members on behavioral and programmatic issues that occur. Implement behavioral procedures/plans as necessary during transport.

  3. Provide services as outlined in Individual Plans – ensuring goals are developed, implemented, and progress benchmarks are being met.

  4. Demonstrate positive behavioral management techniques and communicates with individuals in a person-centered, age appropriate manner.

  5. Complete progress notes, daily logs, timesheets, individual planning activities and other documentation thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner.

  6. Facilitate individual’s self-esteem through positive interactions and building a relationship of trust.

  7. Report any incident involving the assigned individual served to the appropriate Camp management staff, Quality Assurance staff and the Administrative Assistant for incident reporting purposes.

  8. Responsible for being knowledgeable about and ensuring the rights of all individuals served are upheld.

  9. Responsible for knowing and complying with Melwood & Vocational Services.

  10. Starting time for the route is specified and the incumbent is responsible, to the extent feasible, for adherence to this schedule.

  11. Responsible for knowing the assigned individuals served behavior procedures/plans that warrant an aide so the appropriate intervention can be provided.

  12. The Transportation Aide, on a volunteer basis may elect, if required, to drive a Melwood vehicle in the performance of other duties.

  13. Transportation Aide will document and report to the transportation staff/ Individual Plans (I.P.) unit any behavior concerns which he/she feels would be useful in the assigned individual served IP and or Behavior Plan development.

  14. Transportation Aide will implement and/or assist the Individual Plans unit, assigned individual served, or parents/guardians with any behavior program while they are being transported.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Transportation Aide will provide supervision to the assigned individual served while being transportation on a contract shuttle or van conforming to the requirements of the Melwood's Camp Accomplish.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

The Director of Recreation will supervise the Transportation Van Aide.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit 90% of the work time, stand/walk 10%. Must be able to lift or carry 40 pounds; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. All of these requirements are

necessary in order to properly perform the Transportation Van Aide duties. Hearing and good vision is required to perform the Transportation Van Aide responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be dependable and punctual, have the ability to handle stress, have interpersonal relationship ability, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be 21 years of age. Must be able to communicate with staff, individuals served, and caregivers. It is preferred a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Must be able to pass drug test and background check.
