Compensation : $100,000 to $130,000 + bonus

Job Title: Quality and Food Safety Manager

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality and Food Safety Manager to lead all quality and food safety initiatives within our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) encompassing sanitation, quality, and food safety.

  • Lead the implementation and validation of the Food Safety Plan, ensuring ongoing compliance with FDA FSMA regulations and all applicable state and local requirements.

  • Oversee adherence to SQF standards and other relevant certifications (USDA organic, Kosher, non-GMO).

  • Establish and maintain programs and procedures that guarantee product safety and quality, aligned with corporate quality standards.

  • Authorize product hold, release, destruction, and return, leading the prevention and resolution of critical incidents related to food safety or regulatory compliance.

  • Manage 3rd party, customer, and regulatory audits, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions.

  • Provide comprehensive training to plant personnel on GMP, food safety, HACCP, quality standards, and SQF/FDA requirements.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and participation in task force teams.

  • Monitor and improve Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to optimize quality performance.

  • Investigate, respond to, and resolve consumer complaints regarding product safety and quality issues.

  • Ensure material and finished product traceability while maintaining consistent adherence to established specifications.

  • Provide strong leadership and direction for the Quality Control department, effectively planning, organizing, and coordinating quality activities and resources.

  • Set clear quality objectives and targets, define quality specifications and criteria, and assign roles and responsibilities within the Quality department.

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to effectively manage quality risks, issues, and incidents.

  • Communicate expectations clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, fostering an environment of collaboration and compliance.

  • Demonstrate strong plant leadership, balancing production needs with data-driven decision making to drive positive change and efficiency.

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Quality Assurance team, ensuring their proficiency in all aspects of quality measurement, verification, and product testing.

  • Identify and analyze quality issues, particularly recurring problems, and recommend solutions for improvement.

  • Ensure all quality policies and procedures meet industry standards and effectively communicate them to Plant Operations, the QA team, and other relevant personnel.

  • Perform all other assigned duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science discipline

  • 5 to 10 years of experience within the food manufacturing industry.

  • Proven experience with GFSI programs

  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP principles and audit management.

  • Preferred certifications: PCQI, Internal Audit, SQF Practitioner
