Waste Water Superintendent
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for ensuring that all waste water leaving the facility meets the requirements set forth by the local, state, and federal governments, and also for communicating any changes in water quality of engineering processes to the local city government.
The Waste Water Superintendent oversees the chemical inventory required for daily operations and the maintenance and repair of waste treatment facilities and equipment.
This position will actively participate in Haz-Mat and Confined Space Rescue Teams and may serve as a plant safety team leader.
This position will supervise emergency repairs with ability to troubleshoot, analyze and affect repairs to ensure minimal downtime while keeping the plant running efficiently.
The successful candidate must be able to work scheduled weekends and holidays, must have a telephone or be able to be contacted on short notice and must be highly supportive of our Continuous Improvement Process.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Must obey all SAFETY, USDA, HACCP, and PLANT rules and regulations
Collect samples for outside lab, as necessary
Collect samples and run in house lab tests, such as: pH, COD, Ammonia, TSS, 30 min. Set, etc., in reasonable amount of time and log it on daily log
Check D.O. at assigned monitoring points every two hours or as required
Calibrate and keep daily logs on lab equipment: pH daily, D.O. meter and chlorine meter, etc., or as required
Manage employee performance
Train and provide an environment for employees to achieve maximum quality
Maintain company standards established for safety and company policies and procedures
Create and maintain outstanding employee relations and have ability to manage Shift Supervisors' performance, providing positive and corrective feedback
Investigate, in cooperation with Shift Supervisors, all areas for quality improvement and cost reductions and implement improvement using the CIP process
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years related experience, including experience in supervision, is required.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift and climb.
Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.
Ability to work unsupervised, self-motivated.
Ability to take directions and follow through.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and SAP experience a plus.
Education and Experience Requirements: Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. TCEQ Wastewater Treatment Certification, Class “CC” Wastewater Certification Required
