Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated geotechnical engineer to support mine tailings, geotechnical, and heavy civil infrastructure projects as part of the Mining group in Denver, CO.

Job Summary/ Responsibilities:

  • Performs specific portions of broader projects under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Planning, implementing, and overseeing geotechnical exploration programs (30% travel/field time)

  • Developing geotechnical laboratory testing assignments

  • Performing geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses

  • Preparing calculation packages

  • Assisting with the development of geotechnical reports, drawings and specifications

  • Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal team

  • Review of geotechnical instrumentation and preparation of instrumentation monitoring reports

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant industry experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education

  • EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • MA/MS Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Emphasis

  • 4+ years of relevant experience

  • Basic Knowledge of industry software such as GeoStudio, Utexas, Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D

  • Field/Construction experience; tailings or dams experience a plus

  • Familiarity with design reports, drawings and specifications

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills

  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment

  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility

  • Resourceful, highly organized, and detail oriented

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

  • Effective time-management and interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship is considered for this role

  • No relocation will be provided for this role

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $63,000.00 - $75,000.00.
