Job Description:

The Clinical Engineer Apprentice is assigned to learn & perform basic medical equipment service on low-risk equipment and works under direct or indirect supervision. These functions are performed while also completing the apprenticeship educational program.

• Essential Functions

• Capacity to learn about medical equipment, human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.

• Entry level knowledge of basic troubleshooting and repair techniques to perform equipment repairs.

• Accountable in the performance of preventive maintenance procedures on low-risk medical equipment.

• Develops the skill to utilize tools and test equipment required for job duties and responsibilities

• Adheres to confidentiality requirements and safeguarding of protected health information (PHI).

• Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for documentation.

• Aptitude to understand regulatory requirements pertaining to medical equipment management.

• Commitment to learning and staying compliant with the requirements of the Apprenticeship Program.

• Associate of Applied Science Degree is preferred. Education will be verified.

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

• Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.

• May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs.

• For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$21.98 - $33.48
