The Electrical Engineer - Sr Project leads and manages the engineering team. Responsible for driving continuous improvement efforts across different engineering disciplines. Responsible for making critical decisions that have a large impact on projects and engineering initiatives. Develops and fosters Engineers to think innovatively, hold accountability, and process improvement on a daily basis. Provides technical leadership within the electrical engineering department/platform. Performs complex engineering analysis, design or re-design, validation and troubleshooting of electrical/electronic systems for heavy duty vehicles. Provides integration and execution expertise for vehicle control and embedded systems development.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Manage an engineering team consisting of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of their engineering team.

  • Team of direct reports may include people leaders.

  • Provide coaching and development for their team through regular performance feedback, technical and professional training opportunities and creation of individual development plans for team members.

  • Prepare and control department budget, forecast operating costs of department, and direct preparation of budget requests.

  • Has some level of P&L responsibility.

  • Understands market share and P&L for their product line - business acumen.

  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal and external customers, across segments and functions.

  • Ability to present and defend technical engineering decisions to Engineering leadership, Oshkosh leadership, and external customers.

  • Responsible for completion of a complex project on time.

  • Will be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.

  • Responsible for managing multiple priorities.

  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.

  • May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.

  • Perform and check complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.

  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of complex plans designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.

  • Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures - best practices, etc.

  • Perform complex electrical engineering analysis of customer requirements, including design of new and modified systems, ensuring current products remain competitive as well as supporting new products.

  • Interface with customers/suppliers to resolve complex technical issues to provide the business with innovative, industry leading solutions.

  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level Engineers.

  • Perform and check complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.

  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of complex electrical plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.

  • Research, create, and update standard engineering methods and procedures, best practices etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with eight (8) or more years of related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Design experience with programming languages and controls software.

  • Design experience with Controller Area Network (CAN)/SAE J1939 and/or Vehicle Networking.

  • Electrical troubleshooting/root cause/corrective action experience.

  • Wire Harness design expertise and process improvement experience.

  • Previous experience with Creo and Windchill

Pay Range:

$91,800.00 - $153,200.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
