Amazon Transport Planning Manager, EU Surface Transportation in Munich, Germany

Description

As a part of Scheduling team you will work on improving the process and solutions we use to create truck schedules delivering for our customers every day. The team operates in the very middle of a bigger process that starts with network planning and volume forecasting and goes all the way down until the truck is secured in specific place and time.

In this framework you will identify opportunities to improve the way we schedule as well as work on initiatives to improve our planning accuracy, automation in execution and simplification of the scheduling process in Europe and the UK geographies. You will work with a variety of internal stakeholders, including Program Teams, Operations, Supply Chain and Forecasting, Tech and Science partnering to improve our planning solutions.

Successful candidate will have analytical skills, work extensively with data and KIPs, do analytical researches, be clear in communication partnering with a wide range of stakeholders, be able to depart from ambiguous and complex problems to arrive to cost-efficient and simplified solutions and influence their Stakeholders. This role will provide you an opportunity to demonstrate your creativity, rely on your expertise decisions that will have a big impact in Amazon Transportation Service shaping the future of Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

  • Analyse complex data to explain KPIs performance and identify opportunities to achieve higher targets. Build analytics needed using excel, Dashboards, SQL, etc.

  • Create proccess to evaluate the cost of scheduling decisions based on planning strategy, working in partnership with Finance, Programs and Operations teams.

  • Identify opportunities and challenge status-quo in how scheduling, planning, execution processes work end-to-end using data and research to address wider challenges in your organisation.

  • Drive needed changes alongside with Stakeholders, influencing their roadmaps and making strategic decisions.

  • Work closely with Tech teams, Applied and research Science teams to support them in development of tools & tech solutions required to drive a change, assure they meet business requirements and support their launch.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, supporting teams and contribuiting to reliable and trustful partnership with internal Stakeholders.

  • Communicate findings and proposals in a clear and compelling way verbally and in written.

As a Transport Manager you will drive and manage the implementation of creative, data-driven change in Amazon, leading improvement projects and initiatives. You’ll use strategic thinking to define and implement an efficient project plan.

Transport Planning Managers have significant responsibilities, and you will deal with complex challenges with creativity, innovation, and leadership. With a responsibility extending beyond process improvements, you could also contribute to improving other areas of the business, like diversity, equity, and inclusion.

About the team

Surface Transportation Scheduling team plays a key role in creating an accurate plan for road transportation in the entire EU and UK Linehaul network. It is our purpose to create scalable solutions that define where, when and how many trucks will be needed to deliver billions of packages to our customers punctually, fast and as the lowest cost possible.

Basic Qualifications

  • A degree

  • Relevant experience leading cross-functional programmes or projects using project-management methodologies

  • Relevant experience in using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions

  • Relevant experience leading complex projects with a wide range of stakeholders, including your peers and leadership

  • Experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or SQL in a professional environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced or master’s degree

  • Project-management qualification such as PRINCE2, APM, PMI, or similar

  • Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean

  • Experience working in an operational environment or with technical teams
