Amazon Sr. Strategic Supply Chain Manager, EU Other Hardlines in Munich, Germany

As Sr. Strategic Supply Chain Manager you will be responsible for delivering scalable improvements in operations and supply chain programs at EU OHL level. You will own end to end the relationship with the biggest EU OHL vendors owning Supply Chain negotiations and Operational Excellence improvements. You will own projects and SME roles to optimize Amazon's supply chain strategies and operational excellence at scale within the PF. You will partner with Vendor Management, Operations and Central teams, as well as with vendors’ Operations and Supply Chain leaders to continuously to negotiate, optimize, make more efficient and sustainable vendors’ end-to-end supply chain.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will optimize key goals through effective program management. The goals include our Product Family’s EU wide efforts to identify manual ordering use-cases and working with tech teams to define and implement an automation path, resulting in better ordering output and reduced manual effort.

  • You will own multiple projects and programs, working across central teams and category teams to improve EU OHL supply chain/operations - from development through to delivery that deliver cost efficiencies to EU OHL, directly impacting our customers.

  • You will frequently partner with Category teams to contribute to the development of the long-term strategy for category availability and supply chain efficiencies

  • You will work across the whole Amazon organization to drive system and process automation that is sustainable and scalable.

  • You will identify and develop scalable solutions to key operational challenges, both internal and external with Vendors.

  • You will leverage data to investigate and deliver improvements in key supply chain metrics.

A day in the life

You will spend roughly 40% of your time working with our most important vendors by aligning with your internal partners in vendor management and central teams before reaching out to the vendors themselves to negotiate and implement improvement opportunities. Another 40% of your time will be spent to move forward on projects you own or contributing as member of program groups to create lasting impact across large cohorts of our vendor base and supply chain. Finally, you will spend the remainder of your time working on your career development, in team discussions and directly working with your manager.

About the team

We are a centralized Supply Chain function within the EU OHL product family. As a team our culture is focused around three main areas; work-life balance and wellbeing, producing scalable improvements, and creating experts who feel true ownership for their areas of responsibility. Our Strategic Supply Chain Managers, spread across our EU Retail locations, own the full vendor facing supply chain. Improving customer availability remains at the core of the role, with a focus on delivering upside via long term strategic engagement with our vendor base by defining end to end supply chain solutions which optimize and make more sustainable the processing, delivery and receipt of goods. Additionally, we are improving the customer experience by leveraging our vendor and business knowledge to support continuous improvement of our inventory management systems and optimizing inputs to these systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering, mathematics, finance, business or related areas

  • 4-8 years of work experience, of which at least 2 years’ experience analyzing and improving the performance of a business

  • Must have EU Amazon International Stores (AIS) experience

  • Project and program management experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences

  • Demonstrable data-driven decision making

  • Practical experience of Excel

  • Proven ability to work in international cross-functional teams

  • Hands-on, results-oriented mentality, combined with the ability to meet tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more out of: online retail, finance operations, supply chain operations

  • Experience in leading large scale projects and improvements

  • Experience collaborating with tech teams and building tech products

  • MBA from a top business school or equivalent advanced degree

  • Practical experience of SQL
