A significant portion of Siemens' purchasing volume consists of commodities that are traded on stock exchanges. Non Ferrous-Metals' business mission includes ensuring the best purchasing conditions for non-ferrous and precious metals as well as their availability for many Siemens production sites in order to minimize price and supply risks while aligning with all sustainability requirements and Siemens Sustainability targets.

As a 2nd tier Manager for Non Ferrous-Metals (f/m/d) you will be responsible to develop the 2nd tier management strategy and to build global transparency regarding global demand/markets and sustainability for non-ferrous and precious metals within the primary and secondary markets to achieve the Siemens targets.

Together we will shape the sustainability of tomorrow! These tasks await you:

  • Realigning the strategic purchasing scope worldwide for exchange traded commodities and semi-finished products: you formulate together with the business the material field strategy at the individual value chain levels and regions

  • Analyzing the physical metal market: You develop the global transparency regarding sustainability in the physical metal market for exchange traded goods, focusing on Copper. In doing so, you analyze worldwide demand and supply, regional markets and suppliers.

  • Implementing a common Sustainability Strategy for raw material: You are responsible for defining the sustainability strategy, implementing and evaluate their efficiency. You continuously monitor trends and market developments and adapt recommendations accordingly.

  • 2nd tier management: You develop innovative sustainability 2nd tier models considering risk and contract management aspects.

  • Comprehensive collaboration: You initiate and build a network with the internal, external partners and strategic suppliers to achieve the sustainability targets, therefore you work closely with the Siemens procurement network and internal cross-functional partners.

  • Digitalization & resilience: You drive the further digitalization of processes and develop resilient sustainability strategies for your area of responsibility.

  • Internationality and network building: You act as a role model and proactively lead the sustainability of the exchange traded commodities. You work in an international team.

What you need to make real what matters.

  • The basis of your success is your technical or (business) engineer master's degree.

  • You bring extensive experience in physical metal market (refining and electrolysis) and additionally have experience in sustainability management.

  • You already have experience and technical product knowledge on metal products including manufacturing technology and materials science.

  • You have a strong technical understanding, excellent commodity market knowledge, and a broad know-how of relevant procurement and supply processes including negotiation abilities.

  • Professional experience in strategic purchasing within an internationally operating industrial company

  • Previous international experience, intercultural adaptability, and experienced working in global teams are desirable.

  • Proven track record of optimally leading and delivering complex ecosystems and networks within the business and SCM dedicated functions.

  • You are proficient in communication, presentation, and moderation methods. Additionally, you have a goal- and strategy-oriented personality with high autonomy and assertiveness.

  • You are a creative problem solver, able to think critically and analytically to overcome obstacles and find innovative solutions. This includes being able to analyze complex situations, see opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken, complete your profile.
