Securities Services Custody Legal Department provides legal advisory and documentation services for the Securities Services Desk throughout the Asia Pacific region. This role shall also provide support for regional/global custody legal projects as part of the wider securities services Custody legal team.

This position provides the opportunity to work with and support the Custody Services legal team across 17 countries in the Asia Pacific. The candidate will work closely with Legal and Compliance colleagues globally, as well as with stakeholders in Risk, Operations and other areas. The role will involve regular contact with clients across the Asia Pacific region and where required be involved in global projects of the custody legal team.

In this role, you’re expected to:

  • The candidate will primarily provide legal support to the Custody Services Legal team within Securities Services Legal. The role will primarily focus on Custody matters in the APAC region but shall also participate in Global custody legal initiatives.

  • Provide legal support to the Custody Services Legal team within Securities Services Legal. The role will primarily focus on Custody matters in the APAC region, but shall also participate in Global Custody Legal initiatives.

  • Support the legal documentation process for the Custody Services Legal Team, including processing client’s comments, soliciting internal feedback, negotiating key contracts and ancillary documentation, preparing and tracking negotiation drafts, and managing or supporting internal deviation approvals process.

  • Providing day-to-day legal advice and support, including answering queries from the business

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • A minimum of at least 2-5 years of post-qualified legal experience.

  • Candidates with experience in institutional banking or securities industry or relevant practice group at reputable law firms are encouraged to apply.

  • Sound knowledge of common law

  • Basic attorney skills (such as drafting, commenting, proof-reading, blacklining, files management)

  • Education Level:LLB, JD or equivalent legal qualification.
