Citigroup Assistant Vice President- Payroll Operations in Mumbai, India

The Payroll Sr Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Payroll Sr Analyst performs business analysis support for an HR and Payroll operations organization;

  • Serves as subject matter expert for payroll processes and procedures.

  • Manage end to end payroll operations for Citibank and its affiliate entities

  • Accountable for ensuring Compliance with all local statutory and regulatory requirements

  • Responsible for working in partnership with Third Party Vendor (as applicable) on the payroll deliverables.

  • Partner and support Citibank’s HR partners, business heads and designated authorized officers to deliver efficient and high level of customer service.

  • Responsible to the meet the agreed SLA and KPIs

  • Manage both internal and external audits.

  • Responsible for the security and confidentiality of sensitive data that will be handled.

  • Accountable to ensure process checks and controls are adhered in line with the standard operating manuals for all payroll processes.

  • Drives change and contributes to a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

  • Responsible for keeping up to date knowledge on key HR and applications required to assist in processing payroll

  • May be required to perform other related work that may be assigned by direct Line Manager or management to meet the needs of the business.

  • Creates and manages the documentation of internal procedures and business requirements; manages the business analysis and documentation of system change specifications; and implementation of user application test plans.

  • Executes test plans and identifies and documents discrepancies found through the ability to accurately assess output against expected results; Resolves discrepancies with technical and/or business personnel, communicates issues and results clearly, and retests as required.

  • Creates and run data verification reports utilizing queries.

  • Interacts with customers on production and project support.

  • Plans and execute complex projects and coordinate over a broader departmental spectrum. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams, and is involved in coaching and training of new recruits.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of India payroll and statutory rules and regulation

  • Must have at least 10+ yrs. experience in managing India payroll and statutory compliance

  • Must have experience in managing end to end payroll for large/similar organization (10 to 20K Employee Headcount)

  • Sound knowledge of payroll accounting concepts

  • Must have experience in vendor and stake holder management.

  • Should have sound knowledge of payroll systems and logics (Workday/ERP)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience having good knowledge of payroll and taxes and should have managed payroll for larger clients/organization.

Skills: (technical skills)

• Excellent English written & verbal communication skills

• Effective time management, documentation, and Presentation skills

• Good problem-solving skills; is able to grasp complex issues and provide solutions

• Strong interpersonal skills; has ability to develop strong partnership with stakeholders

• Able to handle high volume of work

• Expert in excel skills. Should have knowledge of all prominent excel functions used for calculations and analysis
