Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Multiple Locations, United States

The Datacenter Manager team forms the core stack that powers the Microsoft Cloud and manages datacenter infrastructure for the global Microsoft fleet, including Azure, Xbox, Exchange and more. Titan is a microservices platform that runs the cloud at massive scale. We're on a mission to define the next generation of datacenter and control plane service architecture that allows us to scale to a rapidly growing fleet and new customer scenarios.

Titan Platform is a distributed infrastructure designed to meet Titan's high-demand business requirements, enabling scalable and resilient operations.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Titan Platform team, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing solutions to support high-demand, large-scale scenarios and ensure resilient infrastructure for Titan's distributed platform. You will focus on delivering a robust resiliency plan for infrastructure layer services, maintaining high availability for a diverse range of microservices, and building scalable solutions that meet high SLA requirements. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a passion for delivering well-designed, scalable, and reliable software for large-scale projects. In this role, you will collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key customer solutions and the technology to support them. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop distributed software services and solutions that are engineered for scale, availability, high performance, and high reliability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and deliver a platform that supports diverse workloads.

  • Provide leadership in best practices for distributed systems, scalability, and resilience.

  • Gain a working understanding of Microsoft businesses while collaborating with businesses and leaders to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experiences for our users.

  • Demonstrate analytical thinking, strong problem-solving skills, out-of-the-box thinking, and a real drive for results.

  • Drive a LiveSite culture within the organization to ensure services are functional, providing a positive user experience.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping them to refine their technical skills and supporting their professional growth.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of programming experience including the design and development of distributed software services.

  • 1+ years experience working in distributed systems

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Understanding of microservices architecture, high availability SLAs, and best practices in fault-tolerant and scalable design.

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and drive high-impact projects.

  • Hands-on experience with distributed databases and infrastructure management.

  • Passion for mentoring and enabling team members to achieve their career goals.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
