Microsoft Corporation Senior Product Manager, Azure Storage Platform Strategy & Planning in Multiple Locations, United States

The Microsoft Azure Storage Platform team is responsible for defining, building and deploying the foundational platforms hosting Azure’s Storage IaaS. We are looking for a dynamic product management lead to join our team to shepherd the platform strategy and innovations to enable first party adoption of Azure Storage platforms. This is a unique and highly visible role that will require a combination of technical acumen, business analysis, and cross Microsoft team leadership to enable first party customers to onboard to Azure Storage.

As a Senior Product Manager, Azure Storage Platform Strategy & Planning, you will be responsible for understanding requirements, identifying new technologies, steering the platform strategy and plans to meet Microsoft’s first party customer needs, analyzing financials, and working across teams to formalize plan and ultimately to execute upon them. You will have the opportunity to recommend business investments in a range of technical areas, integrate with multiple partner teams inside Microsoft Azure as well as across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Assimilate customer requirements and develop understanding of first party architectures, and convert the same into coherent strategy for first party enablement

  • Apply the deep understanding of servers, storage, networking and associated technologies/trends and first party architectures to influence Azure platform architectures futures

  • Apply analytical skills and pragmatic understanding of server and storage architecture, design, and development experience to propose solution architecture

  • Present plans and building consensus with technical leaders

  • Collaborate, influence and drive change across groups both within Microsoft and external technology providers

  • Prepare and propose new investment initiatives from concept to business analysis to execution

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related engineering disciplines AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects and software/hardware lifecycle management.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical engineering AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.

  • MBA, Minor in Business management or Finance in conjunction with Engineering degree

  • Previous experience in working directly with external customers and partners with analytical skills, able to make informed tradeoffs, and able to break down and solve complex and often ambiguous problems.

  • Experience enabling Storage hardware / software platforms for the Cloud or enterprise

  • Candidate should feel comfortable operating with large amounts of reasonability and autonomy.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
