Responsibilities

As Xbox Category Manager – Accessories in the Japan Xbox Category team, you will plan and support execution of our category marketing and sales plans for our Xbox Accessories within the Japanese market. Our business goal is to accelerate reach and engagement across devices and help earn Xbox fans through the intersection of customers, software and hardware partners, channel partners and creators. Our Accessories portfolio includes Xbox Wireless Controllers, Charging, Headsets & more. Using consumer insights, market data and sales analysis you will develop seasonal plans that facilitate device, player & revenue growth along with Partner engagement to drive awareness, consideration, purchase intent, conversion & post-purchase advocacy.

  • Drive category leadership by defining (Addressable Market, Audience, Product) & implementing (target setting, investments) solutions that provide added value to both Microsoft, consumers, and our partners.

  • Financial & Operational Excellence – Own & manage Gaming Accessories business across revenue, profit & investment metrics. Very strong long term product forecasting abilities in partnership with supply chain and Partner sales teams.

  • Insight Driven Mindset : Demonstrate the ability to turn insights into action and leverage the Voice of the customer/partner to drive business and product strategy.

  • Change agent : The creation & Integration of new categories & services, bringing key stakeholders along through skilled influence, developing product channel, new business model & GTM strategies while adjusting programs & investments.

  • Culture of Simplification : Passion and eye for simplified workflow, ideas, initiatives. Ability to focus on the ‘vital few’ to maximize impact. Shows agility to speed learning to impact.

  • Collaborative Leadership : Ability to influence and work across functions, partners, teams to drive growth and transformation.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience in a sales, marketing, category environment with experience driving growth across Gaming, consumer products, technology, entertainment, retail and/or services.

  • Accessories/Device management experience preferred in a consumer electronics, gaming, telco, retail, or technology field.

  • Strong financial acumen with ability to set, track and manage annual revenue targets.

  • Adept at creating & orchestrating consistent and compelling Story Telling in partnership with Marketing Communication teams.

  • Portfolio management . Marketed product categories; demonstrated experience of consumer channels. Operating as brand stewards, driving brand consistent execution.

  • Partner management . Direct experience interfacing with Partners and a proven track record delivering growth/performance metrics. Demonstrated ability to build integrated partner marketing plans/campaigns

  • Execution excellence . Operations-savvy, cross-functional project management, budgeting, creative design and direction. Focus on ROI-driven marketing and data-driven insights to develop marketing programs & drive readiness

  • Cross-geo and cross-cultural business management: Experience in working across Global teams and cultures will be an advantage.

  • Managing change . Ability to manage ambiguity and execute in a rapidly changing environment. An agile executor with a discipline around testing, quick iteration and risk-taking

  • Thought leadership: Ability to demonstrate a track record of thought leadership and driving marketing innovation as you lead and grow new business models in the region.

  • Strong English and native Japanese language skills, both verbally and written.

  • Passion & interest in Playing video games, of any type, is a plus.

  • Tertiary education preferred.
