The Senior Buyer must be self-driven with the experience to grow the business by purchasing quality parts at competitive prices. This position also requires an individual with the ability to see the whole picture and drive for results. The Senior Buyer reports to the Director of Materials.

Performance Objectives

  • Maintain Critical Supply Relationships by regular communications with the supply base. Which should include Quality, Capacity, Pricing and Delivery requirements to meet Super Products needs.

  • Meet Commercial Expectations by driving overall cost competitiveness throughout the supply base through optimization, negotiation, design/manufacturing opportunities and identifying new suppliers.

  • Interact with suppliers to communicate delivery expectations, forecasts, design changes, lead-time management and material expedites to ensure Supplier On-Time Delivery to Super Products production schedule.

  • Drive cost reduction activities and cost avoidance opportunities.

  • Work with Engineering to provide assistance on ECO opportunities.

  • Maintain material master records for assigned materials.

  • Review and maintain part consumption characteristics to ensure appropriate planning parameters are maintained.

  • Ability to work on cross-function teams for various Kaizen events.

  • Strong Team Player and Contributor with attention to detail and an orientation towards results/execution.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor level degree in Technical or Operations discipline.

  • Four (4) years' experience of procurement, supply chain or related supply management.

  • JDEdwards preferred.

  • Experience and/or knowledge of Lean Principles

  • Effective trouble shooting, problem solving and organizational skills. Able to handle frequent interruptions, meet tight deadlines and handle conflict resolution in an effective manner.

  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of responsibility.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work extended hours when required.

  • Travel is minimal.
