In 2021, the New York State Public Health Corps (NYSPHC)Fellowship Programwas formed to supportNew York Statepublic health preparednessand responserelated tothe COVID-19 pandemicand other public health emergencies. In August 2024, the next cohort of NYSPHC Fellows will be mobilized across New York Stateto 1) providecritical support and services totheNew York State Department of Health,local health departments (LHD), and community-based sitesin response to both current and future public health emergencies, (2) build effective communication and messaging throughout the Statetosupport key strategies addressing public health efforts, and (3) facilitate connections among the community level public health stakeholders required to strengthen and sustain public health learning and action partnerships.Public Consulting Group LLC (PCG), as the project manager,and its affiliate,Staffing Solutions OrganizationLLC(SSO),have partnered with NYSPHCfor SSOto recruit and hireFellows for the 2024-2026 Public Health Corps Cohort.

Responsibilities

As a Public Health Fellow III, youare responsible forworking with thedesignatedhost organizationto provide specialized professional services related to public health priorities.The Public HealthFellowIIIwill have an onsite presence based on the needs of thehost organization. The host organization mayrequireup to 100 percent onsite workand/or local travel.

  • Comply withNYSPHC requirements, includingsuccessfully completing Cornell University’s Public Health Essentials Certificate Course and University of Miami’s Building Expertise in Administration and Management Certificate course.

  • Comply withPCGprojectand SSO employment and program requirements.

  • Focus efforts in at least one of the following areas: communications; emergency preparedness and response; epidemiology; laboratory; policy development; program and organizational management; and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities and tasks may include:

  • May perform supervisory work coordinating small teams or providing other monitoring and maintenance support services. 

  • Collaborate with,establish, andmaintainappropriate partnershipsand resources, including community organizations and schools, based onhost organizationneeds. 

  • Coordinatepublic health investigations and surveillance activities to gather information onCOVID-19, emerging or future public health threats, and/or chronic or communicable diseases.

  • Develop and providepublic health education, training, and outreach programs.

  • Evaluateand assess data required by the host organization.

  • Prepare written summaries, reports, and action plans.

  • Plan, create,anddisseminatecommunications for public health outreach.

  • Educateandfacilitatethe public in obtainingappropriate services.

  • Communicate regularly with the NYSDOH Fellowship Placement Coordinator. 

  • Other duties, as assigned.  

Fellowship Position Specific Description

The Livingston County Public Health Fellow III will focus onthe area Program and Organizational Management for public health infrastructure development.Duties include:

  • Assistin the development, revisions and adherence toappropriate policies, procedures, and work instructions tocomply withchanges in regulations.

  • Monitor that vendors arecomplying withfederal and state regulatory consumer laws and do not present unwarranted compliance risks.

  • Monitor changes in regulations, interpret their implications for the company, and make recommendations for necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular assessments of compliance risks, identify potential areas of concern, and assist in implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees to ensure their understanding of regulatory requirements and expectations.

  • Lead/Assist compliance audits and examinations by regulatory authorities, coordinating responses and implementing corrective actions as needed. Wouldparticipatein plans of corrections for those departments that are subject to that process.

  • Prepare and coordinate internal compliance audits.

  • Prepare and present compliance reports and updates to senior management.

  • Leads specialized compliance projects frominceptionto completion and communicates progress with the Center Director.

  • Develops andmaintainscompliance educational materials through partnership with subject matter experts (i.e., annual compliance education, Ethics & Compliance intranet site, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least one of the following:

  • Three years of experience within a health, public health, education, human services, community-based organization, or institutional setting

  • Three years of experience in administrative, personnel, fiscal, or other related operational activity

  • Master's degree

  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to lead effectively in a team environment.

  • Proficiency with computers, which can include but not limited to word processing, email, data entry, using spreadsheets and databases, and creating presentations.

  • Critical thinking and sound judgment. 

  • A flexible, adaptive, and composed attitude with the ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals.

  • Phenomenal work ethic with a positive attitude.   

  • Employment is contingent on completion of a background check.    

  • Must be able to meet position requirements, including reporting for onsite work or local travel asrequired.  

  • Ifa fullyremote position,musthave reliable internet access.

Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
