Google UX Research Lead, Google Home in Mountain View, California
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
10 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
5 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
10 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
7 years of experience managing projects, and working in a large, matrixed organization.
Experience developing, managing and executing multiple research roadmaps as a leader and manager, and ability to improve research operations and efficiency.
Ability to connect research insights to brand, technical requirements, product vision and strategy from both pragmatic and strategic perspectives.
Mentor and passionate about uplifting the user research team and discipline.

UX Research Managers are fierce advocates for the people who use our products as well as the members of their teams. You’re an expert at using qualitative research methods such as field studies, interviews, and diary studies to shape product development and influence overall strategy.
In this role, you’ll take the time to understand not just the execution side of UX, but also the business aspects of the products we build. You’ll collaborate with leaders of other UX, Engineering, and Product Management teams to create innovative experiences across all of Google’s products, leveraging your passion for brand, craft, and design quality.
We are looking for a research leader who can lead our team across the entire Home product portfolio, including: developer platform, consumer software and hardware experiences.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$305,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Advocate excellent research practices and generate awareness of the value, processes, and principles of UX research by helping the larger organization understand and proficiently exercise the UXR practice to continually build better products.
Drive and execute research to influence product strategy and vision across the Home portfolio.
Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to ensure research influences product experience and is leveraged for prioritization and alignment during product development cycles.
Collaborate with teams across Google (Gemini, Android, Android Auto, etc.) to create alignment across different product areas to build consensus and shared vision.
Manage senior level individual contributors and managers, provide leadership, strategic and tactical research direction.
