About the Team:

Project Taara is focused on delivering high-throughput and long-range connectivity via free-space optical communication (FSOC) links that use light (eye-safe lasers) propagating between two terminals to wirelessly transmit high speed data. The Taara Project is seeking a Senior Photonic Test Engineer working on next generation photonic and electronic integrated circuit testing as part of the R&D team developing cutting-edge wireless optical communication systems. About the Role:

The successful candidate would be responsible for wafer-level photonic and electronic integrated circuit tests, using both commercial and custom tooling, and for developing custom wafer-level automated measurement tooling for applications where a commercial solution is not available. The role requires deep knowledge in photonic and electronic integrated circuits, in photonic and electronic testing methodology, and in laboratory automation. The position seeks highly-motivated individuals who thrive in ambiguity and enjoy working in a small dynamic team environment, with a passion for solving challenging problems that can lead to high-impact advances in technology.

How you will make 10x impact:

  • Develop and implement novel photonic & electronic integrated circuits test methodology.

  • Develop and automate novel/custom tooling for specialized wafer-level measurements.

  • Contribute to design and layout of novel on-wafer test-sites for optimal measurement accuracy and throughput.

  • Manage wafer-level test activities and laboratory test equipment.

  • Inspect and structurally characterize wafers and components.

  • Automate generation of standard vendor die-picking files from wafer-level test results.

  • Be motivated by making the world a better place through technology, and wanting to be part of a team that makes this happen.

What you should have:

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field

  • Five (5) or more years relevant industry experience of photonic and electronic integrated circuit test.

  • Deep understanding of photonic integrated circuits, electronic integrated circuits, free-space optics, and standard measurement methodology.

  • Experience and demonstrated achievements in laboratory automation

  • Experience with programming in Python

It would be great if you also had these:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or related field

  • Hands-on wafer fabrication and inspection experience

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (writing strategy docs, writing and delivering presentations), can work with senior external partners with ease.

  • Hands-on experience in advancing product from prototype to final production stage

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $143,000 - $210,000 + bonuses + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
