Amentum Maintenance Manager in Mountain View, California

Amentum is dedicated to delivering exceptional quality and service at NASA Ames Research Center. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance team and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of NASA’s facilities and equipment.

This is a full-time position, with benefits that you can enroll in which includes - Health, Dental, Vision, Short and Long Term Disability, 401k, Paid Holidays, PTO, and Paid Sick Leave. The salary range for this position is $96,700 - $150,000.

Maintenance Supervisor Responsibilities

The Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in our organization, overseeing the maintenance and repair of all equipment, systems, and infrastructure to ensure optimal functionality and safety. This position requires a strong leader with exceptional technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively. Some of the key responsibilities include:

  1. Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of unionized maintenance technicians and staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.

  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills of the maintenance team.

  1. Health and Safety:
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all maintenance work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations.

  • Conduct safety audits and promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.

  1. Maintenance Operations:
  • Execute a preventive maintenance program to ensure the regular inspection and servicing of all equipment, machinery, and facilities.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and other issues and coordinate repairs efficiently.

  • Improve the reliability of equipment and machinery essential to critical missions using a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) approach that includes Predictive Testing and Inspection (PT&I) data gathering and analysis.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment manuals, work orders, and maintenance schedules.

  1. Budget and Resource Management:
  • Manage resources within the assigned budgets and schedules.

  • Work closely with the business office to procure necessary tools, equipment, and materials for maintenance tasks.

  1. Facility Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for facility improvements and equipment upgrades, proposing cost-effective solutions to enhance efficiency and performance.
  1. Vendor and Contractor Management:
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services when required.

  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure timely completion of projects.

  1. Reporting:
  • Generate regular maintenance reports and updates for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators, project progress, and budget status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or proven experience in maintenance management, with a minimum of 8 years in a leadership role.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

  • Strong general knowledge in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, alarms, and general maintenance.

  • Positive team player, with leadership skills to bring together diverse groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise, and backgrounds.

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to influence and drive results through others.

  • Works well under pressure and with tight deadlines, and ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time.

  • Self-motivated and results oriented, with strong attention to detail.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and federal background check and possess a valid Class C license.

Description of Work Environment

  • Work Environment: 60% office work; 40% field work

  • Minimal exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.

  • Hazardous conditions include hazards associated with maintenance and construction sites.

Equipment and Machines Involved in Work Tasks

  • Regular use of office equipment and radio.

  • Regular use of vehicles to travel around the campus.

  • Limited use of basic hand tools.

Criticality of Attendance

  • Work Schedule: Regular work hours (Monday - Friday) with infrequent weekend work.

  • Regular and reliable attendance required.

  • Occasional travel required.
