Google Developer Relations Engineer III, Android, Kotlin Multiplatform in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.

  • 2 years of experience in Android development including coding experience in Java or Kotlin.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in Developer Relations/Developer Advocacy and related community work (e.g., meetups, hackathons, support forums, etc.).

  • 3 years of experience as a technical practitioner in a developer community.

  • Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform on Android and iOS.

  • Experience in performing technical presentations or public speaking.

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Programs Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

As the Developer Relations Engineer, you will be a part of the Android Developer Relations team and will work to enable more developers to use Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) across platforms to increase developer productivity. You will help shape the roadmap for a more seamless developer experience for KMP and will work with developers, generate developer insights, create guidance, write example code, author blog posts, influence engineering plans, propose product changes, discover developer stories, and inspire developers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Work with developers, internal stakeholders at Google, and JetBrains to increase awareness and drive adoption of Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).

  • Find opportunities for Google and developers to build products across platforms more effectively.

  • Identify and bridge gaps in the developer experience to ensure a smooth onboarding process for building, debugging, testing, and releasing KMP apps.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to provide feedback on APIs/libraries, influence the product roadmap, and craft KMP developer narrative for developers.

  • Create scalable developer resources including blog posts, sample code, code-labs, and opinionated guidance on Jetpack KMP libraries, as well as best practices for KMP adoption.
