Google Audio Systems Engineer, Devices and Services in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience working in a consumer hardware technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

  • Experience with standard audio measurement and analysis tools (e.g., ACQUA, SoundCheck, Audio Precision, Audition, Matlab/Python).

  • Experience with hearable audio systems (e.g., acoustics, transducers, microphones, ANC, and digital signal processing).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).

  • 7 years of experience with consumer hardware, producing new technology.

  • Experience in hearable audio system design, tuning and validation, including ANC, transparency and playback

  • Experience in objective and subjective assessment of hearables audio quality and ANC/Transparency performance.

  • Experience with control theory and ANC.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Collaborate with Product, Acoustic, Algorithm, and Software teams to define and develop hearable audio systems and deliver solutions that meet key user experiences.

  • Own tuning, evaluation and debugging of hearable audio algorithms, including Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), transparency, and playback.

  • Be an expert in objective and subjective testing, develop tools, tuning strategies and automate new methodologies to launch hearable audio solutions.

  • Validate and debug audio system software, coordinate on algorithm enhancements with developers.
