Requisition Summary This position requires strong, hands-on, technical abilities with a proficient understanding of heavy-duty diesel engine operation. Candidates must conceptualize principals related to obscure engine failures. Strong logistical skills are also required. The engine inspection team is located at the PACCAR Technical Center. Get started! Job Functions / Responsibilities Work under the direction of Engine Inspection Team Supervisor. Perform complete engine and component teardowns and detailed inspections. Document observations using detailed photography and Microsoft PowerPoint. Use data and observations to propose hypothesis and root cause finding of engine and component failure. Coordinate returning parts to suppliers and/or other outside recipients. Track and organize incoming engines and components. Communicate results with internal and external staff. Qualifications 2+ years of heavy-duty diesel or automotive technician experience required. Work well with others in a collaborative work environment. Strong understanding of metrology tools and principals. Strong understanding of diesel engine operation. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Strong critical thinking skills. Methodical process driven analytical means of thinking. Excellent trouble-shooting and diagnostic skills. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Lift and carry 40 pounds; push and pull 125 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and stairs throughout the day. Tolerate bending, stooping, and kneeling. Ability to perform frequent work at or above shoulder level. Ability to work with or around solvents, degreasing agents, greases, oils, fuels, paints, and solder with proper safety equipment. Tolerate hearing protection equipment. Tolerate working in confined spaces. Ability to operate forklift and overhead crane. Education AA degree or Technical Certificate from an accredited technical school or equivalent work experience in HD diesel or automotive trade required.
