Westchester Jewish Community Services Admitting Specialist in Mount Vernon, New York

Overview:

WJCS is seeking a full-time Admitting Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Admitting Director, the Admitting Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the intake and referral process for individuals and agencies seeking mental health services at WJCS. This hybrid position offers a blend of in-office and remote work, with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote. This role will be split between our Mt. Vernon and Peekskill clinics. The compensation for this position is $46,000.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage the intake and referral process, scheduling initial intake appointments for prospective clients and/or agencies.

  • Verify and obtain benefits and pre-certification information from insurance companies.

  • Accurately register insurance and pre-certification details for new clients in the electronic health records system.

  • Enter and adjust on-going authorizations, co-pay, and deductible information for existing clients.

  • Troubleshoot issues related to insurance authorization, recertification, and coordination of benefits across multiple systems.

    Requirements:

    We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • An Associate’s or a Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field is preferred, however an applicant with experience and a High School Diploma will be considered.

  • Prior experience in an office setting, particularly within managed care, is required.

  • Strong understanding of administrative processes with mental health or healthcare settings.

  • Proficient knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing policies.

  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus!
