Position Summary:

The Counselor Education Unit in the Department of Counseling, Educational Leadership, and Higher Education (CEH) at Central Michigan University is now accepting applications for a 10-month full-time Tenure-Track Faculty position, at either Assistant or Associate rank, in Counselor Education, effective January 2024 (preferred) or August 2024. The CMU Counseling Program continues to grow since adding its CACREP accredited fully online program and is therefore seeking a Tenure-Track (Assistant/Associate) Counselor Educator who completed education in a CACREP Accredited Program to teach on main campus (Mt. Pleasant, MI) and online (both synchronous and asynchronous formats). This individual must have a strong professional counseling identity demonstrated by clinical experience and active licensure/credentialing as a counselor. Summer teaching opportunities may also be available.

Required Qualifications:

• An earned doctorate in Counselor Education, from a CACREP-accredited institution (ABD may be considered only if application includes written documentation from Program Chair of completion date by start date). • Post-graduate professional clinical or school counseling experience. A professional counseling license and/or certification; or license eligible in Michigan. • Understanding and demonstrated knowledge and implementation of the multicultural and social justice competencies in counseling. • Willingness to assist as a team member in the program's implementation and ongoing review of CACREP standards. • Experience with data collection and program assessment or willingness to learn. • Professional counseling identity, including membership in ACA or other professional counseling associations; and • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Assistant Professor

• Demonstrated competence in teaching with experience in the online environment. • Program evaluation and CACREP interest/experience; and • Articulated plan of scholarship. • Interest in leadership at the programmatic level.

Associate Professor

• Demonstrated competence in teaching using various platforms, hybrid pedagogy, and/or in an online environment. • Demonstrated commitment to professional counseling organizations at the local, state, national and/or international level through active membership or leadership. • Program evaluation experience. • Demonstrated involvement with the CACREP accreditation process. • Demonstrated scholarship (e.g., journal articles, grants, books or book chapters, etc.); and • History of leadership at the Department/Program level such as concentration coordinator, program director or clinical experiences coordinator.
