Job Description
This is a non-merit temporary position.
The hourly wage for this position is $18.49-$27.02.
The Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility is looking to fill a temporary Medical Laboratory Technician. This is a non-merit position working approximately 14-16 hours a week up to 780 hours a fiscal year.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
Has a good understanding of electronic records and recording
Works with medical team
Receiving, labeling and safely storing samples to be sent out to off site lab for testing
Determining and performing tests needed for on-site Clia approved on-site tests
Recording on-site tests and then recording results
Discussing and answering any questions regarding the results
Organizing and storing samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample
Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the below requirements:
Experience equal to eighteen months of full-time work involving the performance of laboratory tests and examinations as illustrated in this class description;
OR
registration as a Certified Laboratory Assistant through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists;
OR
registration as a Certified Technician through the American Medical Technologist Association; OR registration as a Certified Technician through the International Society of Clinical Technicians;
OR
an associate of arts degree in the field of medical laboratory technology and registration as a Registered Laboratory Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
