About This Role
NORESCO’s Sustainability Services consulting group is currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer to provide building systems commissioning services for projects across an array of markets, including university, hospital, laboratory, pharmaceutical, K-12, commercial and retail. Qualified candidates should have knowledge of and experience with the commissioning process as detailed in ASHRAE Guideline 0, The Commissioning Process .
This role provides an opportunity to work with technical Subject Matter Experts in a culture that fosters professional development and recognizes individual contributions towards team success.
Additionally, as part of our Sustainability Services consulting group, you will have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to other services such as energy audits, retro-commissioning, testing, adjusting and balancing, decarbonization and electrification.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend meetings with the design and construction team to review the project goals and schedule to assist with commissioning activities throughout the construction process
Prepare a detailed commissioning plan outlining systems to be commissioned, processes to be followed, and roles and responsibilities of the team members
Review specifications and design documentation to ensure the systems can be properly commissioned and maintained
Review project submittals for consistency with the design intent, basis of design and the owners project requirements
Develop commissioning prefunctional check sheets and functional performance test procedures
Provide field verification through witnessing and testing to ensure project quality and adherence to design
Facilitate issue resolution between multiple types of project team members: owners, engineers, facility operations staff, and contractors. Exhibit technical, communication and leadership skills necessary to effectively present findings and recommend corrective actions to the client
Compile all required documentation for commissioning closeout deliverables including the commissioning report, system manuals, current facility requirements (CFR) and operations and maintenance plan
Review O&M manuals and facilitate training on equipment and systems
Prepare final commissioning report and system manuals
Ensure client/customer satisfaction is met for tasks performed
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Engineering
3+ years of experience in Commissioning; Mechanical or Electrical Design; Construction Project Management; Control System installation or maintenance; HVAC testing and balancing; OR Facilities operations and/or maintenance
OR –
High School Diploma
7+ years of experience Commissioning; Mechanical or Electrical Design; Construction Project Management; Control System installation or maintenance; HVAC testing and balancing; OR Facilities operations and/or maintenance
Preferred Qualifications:
Commissioning Certification desirable; CBCP from AEE or Certified Cx Professional from BCA.
Experience with commercial energy code and/or LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Cx requirements
Familiarity with Facility Grid commissioning process management software
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Facilities Engineering
Strong controls and instrumentation knowledge
Proficient in MS Office software, especially with Excel spreadsheets
Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
