Caterpillar Inc. seeks Sr. Engineer-PERF/SIM/APP at its facility located at 14009 Old Galena Rd. Bldg L, Chillicothe, IL 61523.

Job Description: Develop and validate engine and aftertreatment control systems for current and future diesel, dual fuel, and spark ignited natural gas engine products, including control/simulation requirements development, modeling of control algorithms for system simulation and control software generation, modeling of engine and engine sub-system physical dynamics, and system simulation and performance analysis, all supporting diesel engines, dual fuel engines, spark ignited natural gas engines, and aftertreatment systems with a focus on control system design, analysis, and validation. 0% domestic travel to support troubleshooting issues at customer sites.

Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience developing performance, controls, and simulations of heavy-duty diesel, spark ignited, or dual fuel engines, aftertreatment, and subsystems or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) MATLAB and Simulink with Control Systems Toolbox, Vector CANape, GT-Power; (2) Classical control theory with Single Input Single Output (SISO) systems; (3) Control system development process, including verification and validation process for the same through simulation, bench testing and on-engine testing; and (4) 2 years of product development experience using NPI and NTI process.
