We don’t just talk about progress and innovation. We make it happen. And we are proud of that, because it helps our customers build and power the world we live in – the roads, hospitals, homes and infrastructure. Without a dedicated workforce Caterpillar could not effectively meet our customer’s needs. Join us.
Goal: Our purpose is to ensure that CAT products meet our end user’s quality expectations by promoting validation earlier in the product development cycle. We do this by leveraging our people’s application & validation knowledge, world-class evaluation methods, innovation, and best practices across the enterprise. The results of this individual’s work will be test benches, labs, or other test rigs capable of executing the tests necessary to validate critical ePowertrain risks as well as a clear understanding of the maturity of the electric powertrain (ePowertrain) system being tested and the results of each test thoroughly documented.
An Electric Powertrain (ePowertrain) includes a power source (ex. Battery, engine, and/or fuel cell), power electronics, and electric drivetrain components combined via controls into an electric powertrain system. As a Sr. Engineering Technologist in the ePowertrain Systems team, you will be joining an innovative team on the cutting edge of electrification. The ePowertrain Systems team is part of the Electrification & Energy Solutions Division and is a full electric powertrain solution partner for prime product groups whose products are sold into the Construction industries, Resource Industries, and Energy & Transportation industry segments.
This role will be responsible for supporting test execution across multiple ePowertrain NPI programs. This role will help coordinate test requests across the L5 ePowertrain validation engineers as well as our key component and sub-system technical partners. This role will then create test plans, utilizing the input collected from the L5 ePowertrain and L3 and L4 component and sub-system technical partners. When needed, this role may also be responsible for the build and/or commissioning of a new test rig.

Performing tests targeted at verifying the performance, durability, safety, and/or communication and controls of the ePowertrain system for a given application.
Working with Caterpillar test execution facilities to ensure that tests requirements are defined and communicated and ensure that those facilities are meeting those requirements.
Identify test facility needs, request necessary hardware and/or data acquisition. Make capital requests and manage those requests as needed to support the test facility.
Position involves working in a team environment on challenging New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs that involve the integration of electric drive and electric power source technologies into electrification solutions, supporting a team of ePowertrain validation engineers and NPI leads.
