Summary: The Material Control Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating the flow of materials to support production schedules, ensure timely delivery, and maintain inventory accuracy at our precast, prestressed concrete facility. This supervisory role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can lead a team, oversee the complete material lifecycle---from ordering and receiving to tracking and distribution---and collaborate with various departments to meet project demands efficiently.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: Lead a team of warehouse staff, forklift operators, steel shop personnel, and welders, ensuring efficient material handling and adherence to safety protocols. Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to foster a productive work environment. Material Receipt & Verification Verify incoming shipments and packing slips for accuracy. Collaborate with warehouse and purchasing teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely, quality deliveries. Inventory Management Conduct monthly inventory counts, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate records in the IFS system. Monitor inventory levels to optimize stock and prevent shortages or overstocking. Warehouse & Laydown Area Organization maintain an efficient, safe, and organized workspace, supporting material flow and reducing waste through 5S practices. Material Planning & Scheduling. Review production schedules and update material lists to ensure timely delivery and alignment with project needs, coordinating with purchasing and production teams. Logistics & Distribution Coordination. Collaborate with field and shipping teams to ensure timely material delivery to job sites and assist with load planning and material transmittals. Communication & Collaboration. Attend meetings to stay informed on material needs, serve as a liaison with field personnel, and coordinate with Purchasing to expedite orders as required.

Qualifications: Proven experience in material control, inventory management, or supply chain roles, preferably within a construction or manufacturing environment. Previous experience in a supervisory role, with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory and material records. Proficiency with inventory management systems (IFS experience is a plus). Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate across departments and with external vendors. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to changing project needs.
