The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Idaho seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in structural engineering at the level of assistant or associate professor. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidates meets the criteria outlined in the college and department bylaws.

We are seeking candidates with interest in the structural engineering topics of significant societal importance such as sustainable structural materials especially timber and wood-composites, resilient infrastructure systems, innovative structural analysis, performance-based design, and in emerging research areas.

The CEE Department is in midst of a \$7M fundraising campaign to renovate laboratory spaces and increase student support. CEE has secured donations to begin transforming the existing structures laboratory into the Tamarack Grove Engineering Structures Laboratory. This laboratory space is approximately 1600 sq ft. We are particularly interested in candidates with a vision to grow this laboratory into an outstanding modern teaching and research facility. The new hire will be expected to have a central role in the development of this facility.

The successful candidate will teach both traditional civil engineering structural engineering courses, as well as develop new courses in their specific area of expertise. The CEE department is committed to quality education and has high expectations for teaching excellence. The candidate will advise/mentor both undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally funded research program that supports graduate students and results in high-quality publications. The candidate will be encouraged to collaborate with CEE faculty members in the National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology (https://www.uidaho.edu/engr/research/niatt/).

The CEE department is committed to a productive and collegial environment.
