rrPosition Summary:
r The Indigenous Knowledge for Effective Education Program (IKEEP) is seeking a part-time graduate research assistant to serve as the liaison and coordinator for the IKEEP for Young People (IK4YP) program pathway. IKEEP is a program in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences that recruits, retains and nurtures Native people and community partners to support the health and wellbeing of Native youth in K-12 school systems. IK4YP is a new program in IKEEP to support Native youth in early career exploration in education, both K-12 and community-based learning. IK4YP brings Indigenous philosophies of teaching and learning, such as place-based learning, land-based learning, and intergenerational learning, into conversation with European/Western philosophies of teaching and learning to offer an Indigenous lens on what schooling is and what schooling can be to better serve Native communities. The IK4YP research assistant will work in conjunction with the IKEEP director and IKEEP manager to coordinate IK4YP program courses and activities, facilitate recruitment and dual credit enrollment activities, support students and teachers enrolled in IKEEP for Young People, and support cross-site communication and curricular implementation. Additional responsibilities include documenting program activities and outcomes regarding preparing youth and underclassmen to succeed in baccalaureate teacher certification programs.
rrMinimum Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in American Indian Studies, natural resource management, education, social sciences, or related field
- Accepted and enrolled in a graduate degree program
- Experience with community, K-12, summer or extracurricular educational activities
- Experience working in teams
- Computational and organizational skills
rrPreferred Qualifications:
r
- Experience working with youth in K-12 academic and/or extracurricular settings
- Knowledge of Idahos tribal communities
- Strong communication skills, oral and written
- Familiarity with K-12 lesson planning via a multicultural/Indigenous lens
