UNC Health Care HCS Applications Developer - ISD Clinical Systems in Morrisville, North Carolina

Summary:

Provides the highest-level technical expertise in the development, modification and implementation of software systems designed to support new or existing business, clinical, and/or administrative computerized needs across the health care system. Responsible for all technical phases of projects and regularly lead entire projects that involve multiple departments and entities.

The HealthCare System Applications Developer – AgileMD provides leadership and expertise in application-focused functions within the Shared Services of ISD, including oversight for design, analysis, and recommendations for the implementation and maintenance of AgileMD and its associated integrations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned EHR and applications expert and a change agent who supports our One Great Team in all facets of the system life cycle, and in ongoing technical, cultural, and process change.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develops project plans, prepares estimates of labor hours, tracks tasks and project status, prepares reports. Audits the progress of less experienced staff. Ensures deadlines and quality standards are met.

  2. Leads activities as a technical expert in highly specialized areas of applications development. Provides leadership and direction to project team and technical team with regards to computer application or database management systems implementation, design, analysis, programming and support. Responsible for system design.

  3. Leads the formulation, definition, and detail development of application system scope and objectives. Performs hands on technical assignments, which include coding development, problem resolution, and design within project.

  4. Provides database system design and engineering support to application development staff including table design, performance optimization, adaptability engineering, and application troubleshooting.

  5. Provides direction to project team and technical team involved with computer database management systems implementation, design, and support. Coordinates activities of other technical staff and leads development for complex systems design and problems.

The Applications Developer focuses on people through

  • Primarily coordinating and leading the day-to-day ISD operations around AgileMD and Epic Order Sets

  • Providing recommendations, support, inspiration, and mentoring towards developing cross-functional team members

  • Demonstrating effective customer relationship management with Care Redesign, Health Alliance, and other AgileMD operational partners

  • Providing mentorship and sharing experience and expertise with customers and colleagues, demonstrating critical and systems thinking

  • Ensuring the team’s work product adherence to ISD Governance structure and process, including established Guiding Principles for Pathways, AgileMD, and Epic Order Sets

  • Contributing to retaining team members

The Applications Developer focuses on Quality & Value by

  • Serving as the Primary Liaison for AgileMD and Epic Order Sets for purposes of the ISD Application Portfolio

  • Maintaining data related to AgileMD and Epic Order Sets, as it relates to understanding and improving processes, design, and use of these tools

  • Collaborating with Leadership in efforts to support clinical transformation via continuously improving integration, especially across ISD teams, project teams, and all sources of patient data

  • Providing feedback directly to team members

  • Understanding and incorporating the organization’s mission, vision and values in behaviors, practices, and decisions

  • Embracing and leading change related to applications, clinical technologies, and their implementation across the enterprise

  • Demonstrating support for diversity, inclusion, and culturally expansive efforts

Other Information

Education Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

● No licensure or certification required.

Professional Experience Requirements:

● If a Bachelor's degree: Eight (8) years of progressive experience in computer programming and applications analysis.

● If an Associate's degree: Twelve (12) years of progressive experience in computer programming and applications analysis.

● If a High School diploma or GED: Sixteen (16) years of progressive experience in computer programming and applications analysis.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

● Excellent analytical and communication skills. Ability to work well in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Highly responsive to internal customers.
