Cummins Inc. Quality Technician - Level III - 3rd shift in Morristown, Tennessee

DESCRIPTION

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Support Engineering Tasks : By assisting engineers with production-related and inspection jobs, you’ll help ensure smooth operations and high-quality output.

  • Monitor and Adjust Material Quality : Your role in monitoring materials quality and making necessary adjustments will maintain the integrity of the production process.

  • Maintain Documentation and Records : Keeping accurate documentation and records will ensure traceability and compliance with industry standards.

  • Identify Defects : Comparing physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment, and products to technical specifications will help identify and address defects early in the process.

  • Conduct Simple Tests : Performing tests on electrical function, reliability, and packaging quality will ensure products meet required standards before reaching customers.

  • Provide Technical Reports : Recording results and preparing technical reports will provide valuable insights for continuous improvement and decision-making.

  • Operate and Program Measurement Equipment : Your expertise in programming, training, and operating measurement and test equipment will ensure accurate and reliable testing.

  • Assist Customers : Helping customers understand product specifications and measurement data will enhance their satisfaction and trust in the company’s products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Measurement Science : Analyze measurement processes to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty. Applying metrology principles across various domains (e.g., chemical, dimensional, electrical) will ensure accurate and reliable measurements.

  • Quality Process Management : Apply quality tools and methods (e.g., APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC) proficiently to ensure the quality of products, processes, and services. This will help maintain high standards and minimize defects.

  • Laboratory Management : Lead technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory. Ensure that both technical and business requirements are met, and maintain appropriate certifications and accreditations.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Preferred significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Good working knowledge of measurement methods and instruments, data recording, and able to read and interpret drawings.

Working experience with Microsoft office products a plus.

Able to walk continuously throughout the work shift and/or sit for long periods of time.
