West Virginia University (Hybrid) Temporary Field Technician - Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Reso in Morgantown, West Virginia
Description West Virginia University Division of Forestry and Natural Resources is seeking applications for a Field Technician. The field technician will assist with trapping wild turkeys, fitting turkeys with GPS transmitters, monitor turkey survival/nesting, and collect associated environmental data. The technicians will also help with data entry/organization, and equipment upkeep. This position will work closely with individuals from WVU and the WV Division of Natural Resources. What you'll do: Scout trapping locations Trap turkeys Monitor turkey survival and nesting Collect environmental data Data entry and organization Equipment upkeep Pay Grade: 10 Length of Assignment: Approximately 6 months Qualifications Associate's degree or coursework in wildlife biology, ecology, or related field 0- 6 months of related experience Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered. All qualifications must be met by the time of employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work both independently and part of a team Good communication skills Ability to work in harsh weather conditions and in difficult terrain Experience communicating with the public while in the field Basic knowledge of data entry in Excel Experience with telemetry (preferred) Requirements Valid driver's license About WVU West Virginia University is a place of purpose and community.
