Description The Division of Talent and Culture, along with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for an Internal Investigator. About the Opportunity This position reports to the Director of Employee Solutions. To this end, the incumbent conducts professional investigations in response to complaints of illegal discrimination, harassment, or misconduct involving WVU employees, students and applicants on the Morgantown campus, the divisional campuses and the statewide extension system. Wellness programs What You'll Do Receives, evaluates and responds to inquiries and requests for information related to all forms of illegal harassment, discrimination, or misconduct in the WVU system. This may include answering requests for routine consultation, information, referrals, counseling and responding to complex and/or emotionally charged questions.
In cases where an investigation is warranted, the incumbent in this position is responsible to follow established procedures in conducting a comprehensive investigation.
Plans and develops appropriate investigative methodology for all situations to follow established procedures in conducting a comprehensive investigation.
Conducts thorough and professional investigations, including contacting and scheduling witnesses, following through on all leads and maintaining objectivity.
Prepares and composes accurate investigation reports, with limited errors, for presentation and review by the Director/Executive Director.
Maintains a collaborative relationship with relevant offices, including the Office of Equity Assurance, the Department of Public Safety, and the Office of the General Counsel.
Serves as a resource to regional campuses and conduct investigations on those campuses as needed.
Maintains a timely professional development program relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
Presents case information accurately and articulately at hearings when called upon.
Assists in other duties relevant to the work of Employee Relations and/or the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications A master's degree in a discipline related to human resources, social work, education, criminal justice or similar field. JD is preferred.
