The primary focus of this role is to provide basic emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system and for those patients who require non-emergency or interfacility medical transport. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. This role's function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. This position performs interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. This position is a link into the health care system and resource for routine and interfacility transports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Current WV EMS CertificationORObtain within three (3) months of hire. 3. If hiredafter 7/1/2020, obtains National Registry of EMTs Emergency Medical Technician Certification upon hire. If EMT currently has NREMT, they must maintain NREMT status. 4. Valid Driver's License. 5. Obtain Emergency Vehicle Operations Course within six (6) months of hire. 6. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. 7. Obtain National Incident Management System (NIMS) within (1) month of hire. IS 700 IS 800 IS 100 IS 200 8. If hiredafter 7/1/2020,Obtain International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)ORPrehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification within 3 months of hire. If hiredafter 7/1/2020,Obtain Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP) within 3 months of hire. If hired before 7/1/2020,Obtain Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP) by January 1, 2021.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate level degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary educational institution. 2. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, AHA Preferred. 3. National Registry of EMTs Emergency Medical Technician certification. 4. GEMS (Geriatric Education) Certification. EXPERIENCE: 1. Two (2) years of experience as a field provider at the EMT level.
