Morehead State University Staff Accompanist in Morehead, Kentucky
The Music, Theatre & Dance department at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Staff Accompanist. The anticipated start date is August 12, 2024.Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. Morehead State University delivers a strong and affordable education for friendly, ambitious students who thrive in a student-focused learning environment defined by small class sizes and faculty committed to teaching and student success.RESPONSIBILITIES: The staff accompanist prepares, rehearses, and performs with students, faculty, ensembles, and guest artists while demonstrating a highly skilled level of proficiency on the piano. Additionally, there may be travel required to support performances. It is expected that there be a degree of collegial demeanor and excellent verbal and collaborative communication skills required.REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in piano required or bachelor’s degree with substantial professional experience of no less than three years relevant experience with collegial demeanor and excellent verbal and collaborative communication skills required.Outstanding sight-reading experience, managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to maintain and organize events while providing department support.SPONSORSHIP: This position is not budgeted for Visa Sponsorship.
