Amazon WHS Specialist– Injury Prevention and Health and Wellness in Moorebank, Australia

Description

The Workplace Health and Safety Specialist, (WHSS) will support Amazon’s injury prevention and health & wellness programs. In this position, you will be a part of the site Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Team and will lead proactive injury prevention activities as well as support execution of health and wellness programmes across a principal fulfillment centre and providing additional support to some smaller logistics sites. This position will work out of a specific fulfillment centre and report directly to a Site WHS Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with the WHS and Operations Teams as well as support functions across the organisation to execute employee injury prevention and health and wellness program initiatives, and ensure compliance to with applicable local and regional regulations. This role will influence peers and senior leaders to support a culture of safety.

In addition, they will collaborate with WHS SMEs including ergonomists, Senior WHS Specialists, Health & Wellbeing and WHS project management. The role will act as a facilitator for scaling ergonomics improvement initiatives and other injury prevention strategies.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate ergonomic assessments, leveraging guidance from the regional ergonomics team.

  • Analyze injury trends, conduct root cause investigations, and develop action plans to mitigate risks.

  • Identify measurable project objectives and outcomes, ensuring collaboration and scalability.

  • Evaluate potential ergonomic concerns during process changes and support improvements to standard work.

  • Support the execution of wellness and health programs, enhancing their performance at the site/multi-site level.

  • Train, coach, and assist operational and WHS leaders in fulfilling their safety responsibilities.

  • Create and deliver comprehensive reports to key stakeholders, showcasing progress and insights.

Your day might involve conducting ergonomic assessments, identifying risk factors, and implementing innovative solutions to mitigate potential injuries. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, ergonomists, and wellness experts, to develop and execute impactful injury prevention and wellness programs. Additionally, you'll play a vital role in training and coaching associates, fostering a positive safety culture through effective communication and engagement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in workplace health & safety (WHS) related field

  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in operational environment.

  • Experience in injury prevention and health and wellness programs

  • Cert IV in Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety

  • Experience in an occupational or industrial setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Site leaders and Directors

  • Experience in an industrial wellness program.

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.

  • Bachelors degree in a Workplace Health and Safety related field.
