Description of Work

This posting is for the Division Parts Supervisor (Program Coordinator III) position in the Division 8 Equipment Unit located in Carthage. This position will supervise a group of employees in an equipment fleet support operation that includes purchasing, receiving, sorting, issuing, and maintaining inventory of equipment repair parts. Solicit quotes and purchase materials less than $10,000 solicit quotes and requisition materials over $10,000 through DOT Purchasing. Check incoming materials and invoices for accuracy and approve for payment and enter into SAP system for further processing. Initiate emergency purchases for non-inventory items. Use material forecasting to determine sufficient levels of stock and adjust requirements accordingly. Review new equipment master data to determine need for additional stock items. Responsible for assuring all materials received in a timely manner for daily operations of seven equipment shops. This includes inventory and non-inventory materials. Research repair parts from equipment history and parts manual. Coordinate and prioritize emergency need of equipment repair materials with the equipment superintendent, fleet manager and equipment supervisors. Procure material for other DOT agencies as requested.

The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: working knowledge of parts procurement, experience with inventory procedures, and/or purchasing experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to identify automotive and construction equipment parts through use of Websites, catalogs or physical inspection.

  • Knowledge of parts procurement and inventory procedures for light/heavy vehicle and construction type equipment parts.

  • Experience with physical inventory maintenance procedures (i.e., daily, and annual spot checks/counting)

  • Experience with data entry including invoicing and purchasing.

  • Experience with operations of Light/Medium trucks and forklifts.

Additional Expectations:

Must possess knowledge of general computer software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and SAP, Safety Toe shoes are required. Selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. T his position is subject to emergency call back.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
