Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Implementation team, the Senior Portfolio Analyst joins a team that is responsible for the Equity & Fixed Income implementation activities of CIBC Asset Management (CAM), CIBC Private Investment Counsel (CPIC), Cayman and First Caribbean. The team creates optimized orders baskets by analyzing complex situations, they have to accurately recognize and minimize the different risk factors associated with the rebalancing & strategic changes process.

They support directly and indirectly traders, portfolio managers, global operations, and client servicing teams by providing them with accurate and timely information. The Implementation team collaborates closely with the different teams involved in the trading lifecycle and plays a key role in ensuring that our clients can achieve their financial goals.

They implementation team has a central role in minimizing the overall operational risks and ensuring that the that the overall trading process is completed efficiently and accurately. Whenever a potential issue is identified they take the necessary steps to ensure a quick resolution.

You will also be participating in different key initiatives and project that will lead to the elaboration and implementation of new or revised workflows for the team.

To deliver a great client experience, you are flexible to work on occasion on weekends (a few times a year) to implement larger tactical shifts across client accounts.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Trade Implementation (rebalancing) - Implement equity and fixed income rebalancing programs in Bloomberg based on models and rebalancing guidelines. Make sure that accounts are pre-trade compliant, by adjusting orders baskets when there is a breach. Using post-trade compliance reports, justify any remaining account breaches and discuss corrective action with the Portfolio Manager.

  • Trade Implementation (Strategic) - Based on Portfolio Manager’s instructions (internal or external) implement strategic trades for all accounts subscribing to a particular equities or fixed income model, while ensuring that all orders are pre-trade compliant.

  • Reporting - Produce various daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly reports, and ensure that reports are accurate and released within the established deadlines. Update and maintain the assigned PM quote sheets on a daily basis. Provide PMs with any reports they require on an ad-hoc basis. Respond to other special queries from internal clients such as the PMs or the Servicing Managers for CPIC (i.e., tax loss selling, trading simulations).

  • Problem Solving – Become one of the main resource persons in the team. Take the lead when problems arise in order to find solutions to resolve the issue appropriately and quickly. If needed, follow the proper escalation process for resolving issues by reaching out to the respective internal/external teams.

  • Projects - Participate in key initiatives and projects that expend or improve CAM capabilities and processes, by defining business requirements and creating, performing, and documenting business test cases.

  • You can demonstrate experience in the financial services industry (minimum of 5 years, ideally back office, middle office, or business analysts), and you have a developed knowledge of Bloomberg AIM or of programming languages like VBA or Python. It is an asset if you have the CFA designation or successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

  • You have a degree/diploma in business, finance, or economics.
