CAE USA INC Manager, Technical leadership in Montreal (St. Laurent), Canada

About This Role

This position combines knowledge of technical challenges with management skillsets. The Technical Leadership Manager supervises a team of highly qualified professionals who are Technical Leads or Subject Matter Experts. The main objective of this manager is to develop and elevate technical leadership. He/she acts as a bridge between the technical branch and management by collaborating with technical leaders, technical authorities, and managers of various levels. The Technical Leadership Manager reports to a senior manager.

The Technical Leader ship Manager is expected to perform the following tasks:  

  • Responsibilities linked to technical leadership:

  • Collaborate with other managers, technical leaders , SMEs and technical authorities to develop and grow technical leadership.

  • Develop, standardize and share processes and best practices between the communities of practice .  

  • Understand and help his/her team address their technical challenges .  

  • Take on various special mandates such as leading initiatives that seek to optimize our processes and expose successes of the technical track .  

  • Responsibilities linked to management:

  • Mentor team and establish development plans .  

  • Manage team member assignments and process corresponding approval requests.

  • Assess the team and build adequate succession plans .   

    Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s in engineering, or equivalent degree and training.

  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in tech or management.

  • Experience as a Technical Leader or first-level manager an asset.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of managing several employees and multi-tasking .

  • Dynamic team player with strong communication skills , results-oriented with good team spirit.

  • Strong analytical skills and good at translating complex business issues into simple technical and non-technical objectives .

  • Knowledge of software best practices and Agile development.

  • French / English bilingualism is required .
