Galvion Maintenance and Material Handling Technician in Montreal, Quebec

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES

As a Maintenance and Material handling Technician, you are responsible for supporting the Engineering team by shipping and receiving products and materials, general building maintenance, equipment maintenance and performing basic tests and experiments (after receiving training). The Maintenance and Material handling Technician is also in charge of proper storage and/or destruction of materials and test samples. This position is also responsible for maintaining a safe, and comfortable working environment for all employees in the Montreal office.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (in frequency order)

Inventory Control and Maintenance (daily)

  • Maintain processes and procedures for shipping and receiving.

  • Responsible for receiving packages and checking in visitors at the front door when you are notified on your company provided mobile device.

  • Maintains proper storage and identification of all materials.

  • Maintains an inventory control process to ensure the accurate accounting of all materials.

  • Follows the process for the handling of scrap material.

  • Ensures all of the above inventory control and warehousing requirements ultimately are properly transacted in Galvion's ERP system.

  • Provides support for general facility and equipment maintenance and coordinates repairs if required. This includes contacting electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, ect.

Laboratory Assistance (as needed)

  • Performs basic laboratory tests and/or experiments by following established work instructions and record results.

  • Provides general support to the laboratory team where needed.

  • Manages, prepares, packs and ships miscellaneous samples, materials and equipment.

  • Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the work area and laboratory.

Machine opperator (occasional)

  • Assiting to perform mold change, machine set-up and laboratory set up as needed

  • Operate the injection molding machine or molding press and monitor the molding process

  • Perform preventive maintenance on plastic injection molds, Material dryer, Thermolator and Injection machine according the scheduled maintenance plan.

Knowledge, Skill & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with directly applicable experience.

  • 1-3 years experience in a professional working environment.

  • Experience and willingness to work ‘hands on' daily.

  • Fork lift operator license preferred (will provide training)

  • Previous knowledge of purchasing, logistics, inventory control and shipping/receiving an asset.

  • General “handy” skills (plumbing, use of power tools, etc.) is an asset.

  • Team-oriented.

  • Experience utilizing ERP systems is an asset.

  • Self-starter, ability to complete tasks independedntly and on-time.

  • Comfortable working in a loosely structured environment initially, but a proven track record at establishing structure and process as required.

  • Good bilingual (French – English) written and verbal communication skills.

  • Position requires a confident, energetic person with good communicational skills in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Computer literate, ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ERP systems.

  • Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 process, certification and compliance is an asset.
