Position Overview
At Ganotec, Senior Safety Managers play a vital role in ensuring that "nobody gets hurt". We recruit people with a passion for health and safety who will create, support and audit our program to reinforce our commitment. Working closely with project teams, Sr. Safety Managers develop and implement protocols, deliver training programs and monitor compliance with regulations and company policies. This position will be based on a construction project and will be involved in both H&S management and site supervision to ensure the safety of management and trades personnel, subcontractors and consultants supporting the project.

Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. Responsibilities
Safety Planning and Implementation:
Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to industrial construction projects.
Ensure that safety protocols are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Ganotec's safety standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks.
Training and Education:
Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.
Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles.
Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization.
Incident Management and Investigation:
Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents.
Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to bridge and marine construction.
Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
Safety Performance Monitoring:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects.
Conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project management and senior leadership.
Qualifications
Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Years of experience will be considered in lieu.
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on industrial projects. Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on projects of increasing complexity.
Professional certification in safety management (ie. CNESST) preferred.
CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Quebec regulations and other relevant safety standards.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
Willingness to travel and relocate to project sites as needed.
Fluency in French required
Fluency in English required, as this role will require assignments and relocation across Canada as well as communication with clients across North America #LI-IS1
