Power Integrations Field Application Engineer in Montreal, Canada
We are currently looking for a Field Application Engineer to join the Americas Sales team. The individual will support the Sales Engineer team. The candidate must have a strong background in analog electronics, with a key emphasis on AC/DC power conversion circuits and magnetics used in the design of switch mode power supplies (SMPS) in the mid to low power market (<1KW). The lab based position requires strong hands-on experience in SMPS design and the ability to perform detailed bench work to help sales engineer support and choose PI solutions for customers. As the technical lead our sales engineers will look to you for final technical expertise in designing with and optimizing the right products for the applications.
To be successful in this role, candidates must have a strong desire to help other engineers achieve the maximum performance and benefits from our products. You must also have strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
Provide final technical support for PI Sales Engineers on their qualified design projects
Review qualified customer paper designs, PCB layouts and offer technical recommendations to the Sales Engineers
Perform project engineering functions including designing of experiments, PCB layouts, and problem-solving in PI Lab
Utilize organizational, analytical, laboratory, and technical skills to perform detailed engineering work to test Power Integrations solutions for customers
Problem solve and review qualified customer prototypes that’s are pre-production ready
Limited travel required, this would be a lab based position with travel required only to internal trainings

Qualifications
BSEE required
Minimum 5 yrs. working experience with AC/DC circuit application and SMPS
Experience in power electronics topologies (Buck, Boost, Flyback, Forward, LLC,PFC converters preferably)
Magnetic design experience with solid knowledge on EMI and Safety Standards
Experience in applications and/or design of end equipment using control ICs & power semiconductors
Strong analytical and laboratory skills using different electronic and EMC equipment
Experience working with Electronic Component Distributors an asset
Working knowledge of EMI and Safety standards
