DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will participate in a comprehensive training program overseen by managers and staff, focusing on various analytical, maintenance, and repair tasks related to construction equipment, trucks, and gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles. This program involves assisting in the repair and refurbishment of vehicles and heavy machinery, maintaining equipment such as sweepers and front-end loaders, identifying required repairs, and aiding in the replacement of components like shock absorbers and brakes. Additionally, you will support wheel alignment, perform minor body repairs, and test or replace electrical parts. Your responsibilities will also include engaging in preventative maintenance, automotive diagnostics, tune-ups, and repairs across various systems, including cooling and suspension. You will assist with state inspections for safety and emissions, ensuring compliance and completing the necessary documentation. Furthermore, you will learn to diagnose equipment problems, assist in determining repair strategies and required parts, and maintain motorized hand tools like chainsaws and compressors, while reporting any missing parts or damaged equipment. Regular field adjustments will be conducted to ensure safe operation and minimize wear. You will acquire skills in repair techniques for assigned equipment and assist colleagues with significant repairs, while keeping detailed records of equipment maintenance. Necessary visual inspections and manual adjustments will be performed, with findings reported both in writing and verbally. All maintenance tasks will adhere to environmental protection guidelines to meet management standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are shift related, 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Shift will be determined by seniority. Travel, overtime and shift work required.  Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as a Tradesman Helper (commonwealth title) working in the automotive field; or Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology curriculum of an accredited trade or technical school; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment: This position requires employees to possess an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's Permit or License on the first day of employment. This position requires employees to possess an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of employment. Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment. This position requires employees to obtain a valid Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification during the probationary period. This position requires operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. Certain positions will require employees to pass the Department of Transportation's New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period. This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.

Additional Requirem nt: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
