Position Summary
RSI is recruiting for an Environmental Scientist who will be responsible for operating and maintaining groundwater treatment systems at the Monticello CERCLA site. This role supports the LMS Site Operations Lead and involves remediation efforts, environmental monitoring, and monthly inspections. The position requires strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration with clients, regulators, municipalities, and site visitors.

FLSA: Exempt
Hiring Range: $60,000-$70,000per year.(The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)
This position is required to travel 50% of the time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate and maintain telemetry systems for active groundwater remediation.
Manage and service leachate collection, treatment, and domestic wastewater systems.
Oversee data acquisition for remediation system operations.
Collaborate with the LMS Site Operations Lead and multidisciplinary teams.
Stay current with all required training and certifications.
Communicate with emergency management and update response protocols.
Work independently in various weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold).
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Construction Management, Business or related field. (Experience may be considered in lieu of education).
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Licenses and Certifications
Valid driver’s license (Required)
Certified Water Treatment Operator, Construction Site Supervisor, OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, Electrical Certification, Radiological Worker Training, Telemetry Certification (Preferred but not required)
Required Skills and Abilities
Expertise in water piping, pumps, underground utilities, PLC troubleshooting, and general maintenance.
Proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical repairs, and telemetry equipment.
Experience with small-scale construction, treatment system maintenance, and subcontractor oversight.
Knowledge of contaminated groundwater treatment, leachate disposal, and wastewater management.
Strong mathematical, language, and computer skills.
Understanding of underground utilities and excavation safety.
Safe use of tools, generators, electrical motors, and power tools.
Skilled in UTV operation, trailer loading/unloading, and safe hauling
Experience with confined space entry, fall protection, lockout/tagout, and crane/hoist operations.
Familiarity with construction equipment and site oversight.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Physical Requirements
Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. The physical demands of this job exceed those of light work.
