This is a Manufacturing Engineer - Paper Area position located in Monticello, MS.
Your Job Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our facility in Monticello, MS. This position will provide technical support to the paper department to achieve key operation objectives in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, quality, and cost. This position will report to the Paper Area Manufacturing Leader and play a key role on the paper team of 160+ employees.
Our Team Georgia-Pacific Monticello is a fully integrated containerboard mill that employs 450 employees and continues to benefit from extensive capital investment. This position is an opportunity to be part of a rapidly expanding organization with tremendous growth potential. Monticello, Mississippi, is an hour South of Jackson, MS, and an hour Northwest of Hattiesburg, MS. Our engineering team is continuing to grow with these two new opportunities!
What You Will Do Influence a culture of safety and environmental excellence through critical hazard identification, risk reduction, and risk mitigation. Assist Department Leadership by investigating challenging issues and use the necessary resources to find solutions. Be intellectually curious and champion finding solutions to operating issues that affect productivity. Understanding, communicating, and aligning goals related to quality, production, safety, and reliability. Leading process & equipment modifications that result in improved product quality, reduced variation, higher customer satisfaction, and creating value. Act as an entrepreneur and identify potential for improvement and take ownership of finding and presenting solutions.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Papermaking experience. 4-year degree in Engineering or equivalent field related experience. Experience troubleshooting, commissioning, and / or improving manufacturing equipment and processes. Experience managing projects. Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
What Will Put You Ahead Five (5) or more years of experience in multiple areas in the paper industry. Experience managing in a labor union environment. Organization optimization experience.
